What is the Income Threshold for Canadian Dental Care Plan Eligibility?

Contact Us

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) uses specific income thresholds based on adjusted family net income to determine eligibility and coverage levels. To qualify, a household must have an annual income under $90,000 for singles or $150,000 for families of two. For a family of four, the cap is approximately $117,000.

Coverage is distributed on a sliding scale based on these income bands:

  • Full (100%) coverage: Household income under $70,000.
  • 60% coverage: Household income between $70,000 and $79,999.
  • 40% coverage: Household income between $80,000 and $89,999.

These thresholds are adjusted annually by Statistics Canada and may vary slightly based on family size. Applicants must also be Canadian residents for tax purposes, have filed the previous year’s tax return, and lack access to any form of private dental insurance.
