Recovery from All-on-4 implant surgery is a gradual process that varies for each patient. Most individuals find they can return to work and light daily activities within a few days of the procedure.
The initial phase of healing involves resting and managing symptoms such as swelling, minor bruising, or discomfort, which are common and can be addressed with medications and cold compresses. During the first few weeks, it is essential to follow a soft diet to protect the surgical sites while the gum tissues begin to heal.
The most significant phase, known as osseointegration, follows the initial soft tissue healing. This is the biological process where the jawbone fuses with the titanium implants. This stage typically lasts between three and six months. Throughout this time, you will wear a temporary, fully functional bridge, meaning your ability to eat and smile is maintained. Once the bone has fully integrated, you will return to the clinic to have your final, custom prosthesis attached.
