The BC Healthy Kids Program provides coverage for basic dental and restorative services to help children from low-income households in British Columbia maintain good oral health.
Covered services typically include:
- Examinations and X-rays
- Professional cleanings
- Fluoride treatments
- Dental sealants
- Fillings
- Emergency extractions
- Basic restorative procedures
Coverage Limits and Exclusions
Eligible children receive up to $1,400 in dental coverage over a two-year (biennial) period. This limit resets at the start of every new two-year cycle.
Please note that the program generally does not cover cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, or specialist services such as crowns, bridges, and implants, unless they are deemed medically necessary under specific, limited circumstances.
