So, what are the differences?

We have simplified the differences between crowns, bridges, and veneers for you in the options below:

Dental crowns are prosthetic devices that are cemented onto existing teeth. They are used to cover damaged, weakened, or discoloured teeth, restoring their shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are commonly made from materials such as porcelain, metal (like gold or alloys), or a combination of materials. They encase the entire visible part of a tooth above the gum line once cemented in place, providing structural support and improving aesthetics. We typically offer dental crowns to protect and preserve teeth that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of dental treatments.

Dental veneers are custom-made shells of coloured material (typically porcelain or composite resin) that are bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers are primarily used for cosmetic purposes to improve the appearance of teeth that are discoloured, worn down, chipped, misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped.

Dental bridges are prosthetic molds used to replace one or more missing teeth by bridging the gap between adjacent natural teeth or dental implants. They consist of two main components:

  • Pontic: This is the artificial tooth (or teeth) that fills the gap left by the missing tooth or teeth.
  • Abutments: These are the natural teeth or dental implants that provide support to the bridge. They are typically covered with dental crowns to anchor the bridge securely in place.

Dental bridges are custom-made to match the natural appearance of your teeth and are cemented onto the abutment teeth or implants. They not only restore your smile and chewing function but also help maintain the shape of your face and prevent surrounding teeth from shifting out of place.

We look forward to seeing you!
